I'm a university student. I speak English and Italian; I write in both languages too. My name is used around here for fanlistings, but I prefer going by Overthesea if we're not close. I collect CDs, vinyls, bracelets and beads, and horse-related things, in particular My Little Pony and Schleich. I am politically involved, but for the sake of privacy I won't go into detail. I'm consistent in my inconsistency, paranoico ed ossessivo fino all'abiura di me.

Music: Neutral Milk Hotel, Car Seat Headrest, Talking Heads, Death Grips, Nada, Kimya Dawson, Ethel Cain, Placebo, The Used, Fiona Apple, The Mountain Goats, My Chemical Romance
Film: Salò (1975), Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995), Rushmore (1998), Festen (1998), Ginger Snaps (2000), Igby Goes Down (2002), Secretary (2002), Boy (2010), Crimson Peak (2015)
TV shows: Succession, Doctor Who, Interview With the Vampire, Gravity Falls
Books: The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Tre Gocce d'Acqua by Valentina D'Urbano, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Games: Night in the Woods, Pokémon B/W, Stardew Valley
Ships: tenmartha, ninerose, thoschei, romencken, others I'm casual about and others I won't mention
Concepts: The house, family dynamics, doubles & merging, bodily fluids, the sea
Neutral Milk Hotel: pretty obvious if you look at this website, a huge influence on my aesthetic sensibilities and tastes. I love Jeff Mangum's way of putting words together, it reminds me of how my own thoughts take shape. Fueled my obsession with bodily fluids for a good while
Car Seat Headrest: helped me be more spontaneous in both my life and my crafts. Together with NMH, inspired me to pick up music as a hobby again
The Used: I was neurotically obsessed with them for years. I ran a fan-blog (a lot of gifs of them on Tumblr were made by me), listened to them pretty much all the time. Though my obsession has waned, they still hold a dear place in my heart
My Chemical Romance: everyone and their mother had an MCR phase but mine was longer and more beautiful and I queued overnight to see them as close as possible
Crimson Peak: the thought of incest used to freak me out to the point of nausea. Then I became obsessed with this movie and watched it a dozen times and now I hold a reasonable concern for the real thing, while in fiction I approach it the same way I approach gore and things like that. Thank you, Guillermo!
Boy: everyone who has an absent father should watch this. Nothing Taika Waititi puts out in this Disney-haze era of his will make me dislike his early films.
Igby Goes Down: everyone who had a questionable relationship with an older person should... well, maybe not. It speaks to me, though.
The Blues Brothers: was one of my most rewatched movies at one point. The energy is just so good.
Gravity Falls: there was nothing like being in middle school and pausing the TV to copy symbols from the screen and try and make sense of them.
Succession: has anyone heard of this? I think it's rather good television. You should check it out.
Doctor Who: I'm the type of person who's not as into DW as those people who have read every novel but I'm more into it than the average casual viewer, so discussing it with other fans is always a surprise
David Foster Wallace: the musical yet never difficult to parse quality of his prose is something I aspire to. What else is there to say? It's Wallace!
Valentina D'Urbano: her writing got me back into writing after a long period of hibernation. I like how, despite each character having a distinct voice, there are little quirks that remain consistent, some of which I (at first unintentionally) picked up. Really underrated writer
Vladimir Nabokov: again, what more can I possibly say?
Al Ewing: if I was annoying I'd call his comics "elevated supes comics". But don't believe I am. He simply has a deep love for the medium and never dumbs down his concepts, which are things I admire and that make his works a pleasure to read
Liminality by Neil Hilborn: a dear friend of mine told me about this poem during the proverbial "strange time in our lives" and, of course, it stuck with me. If you click around here enough you'll find references to it somewhere
Night in the Woods: I played it for the first time during my last year of high school. I played it for the second time during my second year of university and after the death of my grandfather. It makes me feel in a way I can't hope to describe in such a short space, but I hear it's a common sentiment
Pokémon White: just the PKMN game I played at the most optimal time, but it's really good. It has a great atmosphere
Soul Eater: huge influence on me, although the humour (specifically in the anime) isn't as good as I remember. The worldbuilding and style probably shaped much of my tastes
Fullmetal Alchemist: another manga that marked my middle school years. Likely influenced my love for steampunk-as-long-as-it-doesn't-call-itself-that
Donald Duck: I'm European. Of course I love Donald Duck.
What Happens Next: the collage-style storytelling solidified my love for art that plays with its form. It also resonates a lot, as someone who was in similar online circles growing up and currently knows people who are alike each character in the comic
Loki: Agent of Asgard: I don't have the room to talk about this comic in detail. Maybe I'll put something in the dedicated pages
Journey into Mystery (2011): idem
